Time for lady Rams to Shine!

The Girls Water Polo season is well under way, and with the start of the the annual Ayala GWP tournament, our girls are gearing up and polishing their game before the onset of league play on January 5th. Good luck Ladies :)

January also brings the Ramona Athletics (Aquatics, Baseball, and Softball) Goodwill fundraiser. This could potentially earn us THOUSANDS of dollars. So during the holidays, clean up the house and gather up all the stuff you'd like to donate to the Goodwill in our name, and bring it to Ramona on Saturday, January 8th. You can also get your car washed that same day!

Back to Back, and Back to CIF

Well Ramona, you've done it again. With 2 consecutive decisive wins over the 2nd place La Sierra Eagles, Ramona sealed the deal and clinched its second consecutive Inland Valley Water Polo League Championship. Great job Rams!

Tomorrow is the Boys Water Polo 1st CIF game against Tustin. The game will be held at Arlington High School and will begin at 3:15pm (normal game time). We'll need every bit of support we can muster for our boys, so grab your Ram-gear, your favorite bleacher cushion, along with an appetite for some great water-polo and come out this Thursday at 3pm to cheer on boys water polo.

Closing out League, Stepping up to CIF, and Girls warm up for Winter Play

This week brings the fall 2010 boys IVL play to a close with our final home match today against Arlington High, and then Canyon Springs away on Wednesday.

Congratulations once again to the Varsity Boys on their second defeat of the La Sierra Eagles last week, and continued thanks to all our supporters from both friends and family who came out last Wednesday and have come out steadily to cheer and enjoy the games this season.

This Weekend we are taking our freshmen and sophomore boys to the annual El Dorado Frosh/Soph championship tournament in Orange County, after snatching a last-minute spot on the tournament schedule. We have a sizable group of talented underclassmen this year and this is an exciting and competitive event where they can show exactly what they are made of against other teams of their age group.

The Last Leg of League Play

Alright Rams (as a longtime-and-loyal Ram Aquatics supporter often says)!

This week brings the first games in the last third of this season's league play. Canyon Springs finds themselves in 3rd place with a record of 4-4, La Sierra in 2nd place at 6-2, and Ramona is holding 1st place by one game over La Sierra with a 7-1 record.

This week is going to be exciting as we play the Jurupa Valley Jaguars away on Monday and the the La Sierra Eagles this Wednesday at home.

I wouldn't miss it if I were you (see you there)!

A second chance at First Place and Booster Club Fundraiser night

After our boys' three point loss to La Sierra in our first of 3 in-season match-ups, Ramona secured a firm grip on second place in the Inland Valley League. As the second match approached this last week, the boys were reminded of last year's tie-breaking match-up with the returning champions from Arlington, and once again came out on top with a 15-12 win over La Sierra to tie it up for first place.

Great game boys! And a HUGE thank you to all our friends and family who came out to La Sierra to cheer us on.

League Play, FaceBook, and Ram Aqua Boosters

Hello Ram fans and Ram-Fams!

This coming week we find ourselves in the thick of league play with our first game against Canyon Springs this Monday and and our second rounds against Jurupa Valley on Wednesday and La Sierra this coming Friday.

Right now RamPolo is trailing La Sierra in 2nd place after our first match up with them, and this coming Friday we will love to hear all our friends and family cheering our players on from the stands as we tie up our league-game tally with the Eagles.

Weekend Update

Congratulations to the returning boys on thier 3 victories in this past weekend's Riverside Invitational Tournament. This puts the guys at a 5-2 record so far in the 2010 fall season.

This Week: Colony High School at home on Tuesday, San G tournament Friday and Saturday at San G HS in San Bernardino.

Special thanks to all members of the Ram-Fam who came to cheer us on this weekend. You guys were great:)

Ramona Aquatics Boosters will be meeting at 6:30pm this Monday, Sept. 13, in room P83 at Ramona HS. We will be discussing purchases for the teams as well as opportunities to raise new funds.

Research, Reading, and Readiness

This week RamPolo Boys begins the series of games and tournaments that will get us ready for league and CIF competition, along with our Girls beginning their prep work for winter season. Exciting!

Like many teams, while we have notable amount of potential in our ranks, it is tempered by how young the majority of our players are. So how do we turn potential into effective game-play?

Coach Terry Schroeder has a great article on Swimming Speed Versus Quickness and Water Polo Savvy (click title for link) in which he discusses what skills players and coaches can focus on to give us the upper hand in any given game.

If RamPolo can bring this into their game, the results will be impressive to say the least.

Team Gear

The deadline to purchase team gear is coming up quick!

You want to order your stuff so you have it to wear through the rest of the season. Orders will still be accepted, but the time (for suits) from ordering to actually getting the suit in the mail is about 3-4 weeks, so we're trying to get them all done this month.

Bring on the Water Polo

Today marks the first day of water polo season at Ram Land, and we are definitely in for an exciting year.

Our Boys program will be trying to build upon a well earned league championship and, with the right drive and dedication, hope to set the bar even higher for for our future teams.

Ramona Girls aquatics has also been building through the summer and is seeing a resurgence of polo-power that is sure to make us proud this winter.

Boys practice today(Aug 16th) @ 12pm-2pm. Tuesday through Friday, the boys practice will be from 7-9am, and then again from 3-5pm.

Graduation

Congratulations Aquatics Seniors! You've made us at Ramona very proud to have known you all and worked with you through your time with us. Continue to work to make today better than yesterday and you can achieve anything. You will be missed.Boys Aquatics Seniors: Jasen (Ichigo) Graham, Jonathan (Woody) Wood, Marcos Ordaz, Eddie Najera, Adam (Q) Quiroz, Michael Keylon, Adam Shirer, and Alex Mares. Gavin Wood not pictured, but has also graduated this year.

Sorry we didn't get a picture with all our senior girls, but they are no less important. Graduated this year are Kelsey Purkiss, Krystal Pinkston, Katie MacDonald, Whitney Lockman, Denise Vasquez and Leslie MacDougal.

Congratulations again to ALL our graduates. Don't be strangers and we'll see you all at the next alumni game, Super-Bowl weekend 2011.

Summer Polo!

Summer Polo is almost here!

The Boys Water Polo team will begin practicing June 14th from 2-4pm M-Th at Ramona's pool... So get your physicals up to date, grab your pink card and your swim suit and we'll see you at the pool!

We're getting ready for next week's inner Tube Water Polo tourney next week and we will be having a practice game this Friday after school. Don't Miss out on this new annual event!

Swimmer Sabotage!

Help us raise money for aquatics by making our swimmers swim for it. For just ONE QUARTER you have the power to make a swimmer of your choice swim a lap. The more money is put up for a swimmer, the more laps they have to swim. So help out Ramona Aquatics and sabotage a swimmer today.

Inner Tube Water Polo!

For the first time ever, RamPolo is going to host a co-ed inner tube water polo tournament. The game will be just like water polo with the exception that every player, including the goalie, is STUCK in an inner-tube! We are inviting the girls and guys from our own water polo teams to put together teams that also include students who aren't on one of the water polo teams already.

This is going to be a BLAST. So get a hold of someone you know on our squads and join Ramona's inner tube water polo tournament!

CIF!

Well Ram fans, the boys are going to CIF this week in Div. III swimming. We are seeded #10 in the 200 yard relay and #15 in the 400 yard relays in addition to individual qualifications in the 200 free, 200 IM, 100 free, 50 free, and 100 back. Congratulations to Adam Shirer, Adam Quiroz, Gavin Wood, and Nick Runyan for hard work thus far and good luck to the boys in CIF prelims this Thursday.
