Swim Season 2011

Spring time is here, and as the sun begins to warm things up here in the Inland Empire, our swimmers warm up things in the pool as we dig in and and start building for our 2011 swim meets. Swim season offers both coach and swimmer the opportunity to focus in on the finer points and essential mechanics of speed in the water. As we spend our time learning about ourselves, about the water, getting fast and having fun, we look forward to seeing you all at our home meets and hearing you cheer us on in our races.

This is a bittersweet time for Ramona Swim as this is the last swim season in our current pool, which has been the home of over 35 years of swim and water polo here at Ramona. This December, demolition of the old pool and construction of our new facility(featured to the left) will begin, meaning that come springtime 2012 we will be going elsewhere for practice while at home we watch as our exciting new facility comes to life. Thank you to everyone who has help make Ramona Aquatics something to be proud of, and thank you also to your continued dedication to our program and our kids.

SWIM!

Holy Cow! This year is really flying by.

It's swim season already, and we've already had 2 weeks of practice. Luckily, these were pre-season practices and it is not too late to join.

Here in the beginning of spring season we spend our time laying solid skill-foundations for the successes that we all work toward at League finals and CIF competitions. We also are looking to set the foundation of behavior, commitment, and responsibility to Family, school and team.

Wednesday, February 23 is the Spring Sports Parent/Coach meeting at 6pm in the gymnasium. Parents, please make sure you are there so that we can be clear about our programs expectations for your kids, and we can work together for the development of your child into the kind of young adult we can all be proud of.

Thanks, and we'll see you at the pool :)

Girls Polo and Saturday's Big Fundraiser!

Congratulations to the Girls Polo team who took 14th place in the silver bracket at the Ayala tournament over the holiday break. Lisa Crowley and Nina Bardales have emerged as our leading scorers along with several of the girls having scored goals, including first year player Alyssa Garcia. Our goalkeeper, Veronica Avalos, is stepping up providing huge blocks and an excellent arm to feed the counter attack. We have our second league games this week against La Sierra on Friday and this Saturday our JV team is entered in the King Tournament for the second year in a row, looking to capitalize on the skills of Alyssa Garcia, Dakota Ornelas and Marena Ortiz with Katie Petrillo in the goal.

Good Luck Ladies!

VERY IMPORTANT EVENT!!! This Saturday January 8, is our HUGE fundraiser event where we are working to collect donations for our goodwill drive. Click on the flyer for more information. From 8 am to 2pm Ramona Aquatics, Softball and Baseball will be working together to fill as many storage containers as possible with our donations to Goodwill. With your help, our booster club could make THOUSANDS of dollars to improve our program for the kids. So tell your friends, family and co-workers to come Saturday and donate to the Goodwill. See you there!
